Scottish HIPs

Scotland is bringing in their version of Home Information Packs on 1/12/08. They will be called a Home Report.

They will have less documents to the HIP we are now starting to become used to. Though it will include a property survey which seems as if it will be similar to the HCR - Home Condition Report our government had planned. This implementation was put back though in effect scrapped.

Scotland seems to have sat back and watched how Home Information Packs went in England and Wales and seems as if they may of learnt from this. Will they be successful in bringing in surveys on properties instructed by the home seller. Time will tell!!

North of England based DEA's though more likely RICS registered Home Inspectors maybe find themselves practicing their Scottish accents to secure work accross the borders. That is if the Scottish will recognise our qualification system to carry out the single survey and the domestic energy assessments for the Energy Performance Certificates, which they are calling energy reports.

This could also be good news for independant businesses in the HIP market place as it will be relatively easy to use exisiting procedures and utilising them within this soon to be expanding market place.

If you think you may be interested, my advice is to go get them domains. I have snapped a few up today and their seems to have been little uptake so far!!!
